This page is still under construction. It will be devoted to promotion of a newly emerging branch of biology - forest biology and will serve as a virtual meeting point for forest biologists.
The goal of this novel sub-discipline is to gather basic scientific knowledge about biology of the most diversified natural terrestrial systems - forests. The forests can be perceived as systems (networks) of multilaterally connected organisms and interlaced geochemical, ecological and evolutionary processes. So far, these processes have been studied largely in separation, by people working in different departments of biology and forestry faculties. Integration of these different approaches is in our opinion long overdue, hindering progress in understanding forests as biological phenomena.
